The situation on the border between Ukraine and Russia: NATO countries have made a statement

The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Lithuania and Poland have held talks on escalating the situation in eastern Ukraine. This is stated in the press service of the Pentagon.

NATO members assured Ukraine of its support for military capabilities and accused Moscow of undermining de-escalation in Donbas.

On behalf of the United States, the meeting was attended by Acting Deputy Defense Minister Amanda Dori. The event was hosted by British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace. It is noted that the countries participating in the virtual meeting "make a major contribution to Ukraine's security assistance."

"The leaders discussed increasing Russian military activity in the region. Russia's destabilizing actions are undermining the de-escalation of tensions reached by the OSCE-mediated agreement on July 27, 2020, "the statement said.

The Pentagon noted that the countries agreed to provide training to the Ukrainian military and to support the "capacity building" of the Ukrainian armed forces.
