60% of the resort's tourists were foreign tourists
Physicians and epidemiologists link the increase in the number of coronavirus infections in Ternopil region with the appearance of the so-called "British" stamp, which was brought to the region from the resorts of neighboring Ivano-Frankivsk region. Especially from Bukovel.
A new British stamp of coronavirus was found in Ternopil region, which is many times more contagious and dangerous for children and youth.
The country is under lockdown, and Bukovel is thriving
When a new lockdown was introduced in Ukraine, and the neighboring Ternopil region of Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia and Bukovyna were completely "closed", introducing a red zone, the famous resort continued to operate. In early January, President Volodymyr Zelensky was even spotted at the resort.
Even after the outbreak of the "British" stamp of the covid, even the President's Office acknowledged that it was brought by foreign tourists.
"About 60% of Bukovel tourists this year are foreigners," said Deputy Office of President Kyrylo Tymoshenko.
Ski helmet "protects" from the covid
Local officials explained the resort's work permit very strangely. For example, Mykola Sendetskyi, the first deputy head of the State Food and Consumer Service in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, explained that the quarantine regime is observed in Bukovel, and masks replace helmets.
"Everyone who rides in Bukovel has protective helmets, so the probability of getting sick there decreases many times over," the official argued.
As a result, protective helmets did not help, a new outbreak of the epidemic began throughout western Ukraine, and many people became seriously ill. For example, hospitals in Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions are overcrowded, patients are placed in corridors. Now the "British" stamp has reached Ternopil region.
Bukovel will be reopened
Despite the fact that after a new outbreak of the "British" stamp covid, Bukovel still closed, the situation may change. The resort's lawyers are actively working on a new permit to resume work in Bukovel.
"Currently, our lawyers are working on this case. In accordance with all laws, norms and regulations, Bukovel had and has the right to work," said Bukovel spokeswoman Vitaliy Vasylchuk. According to Vasylchuk, closing the resort to quarantine was a "politicized" decision, and local residents, who live off tourism, are suffering heavy losses.
That's right, we expect the resumption of work in Bukovel, a new record number of infected and a full lockdown throughout Ukraine.
