Movies can no longer be banned for political, ethical, religious or other reasons.

"The system of control and intervention, which for a long time allowed the state to interfere in the freedom of artists, was finally destroyed," the official said.

From now on, films in Italy will be divided according to age ratings.

The rating will be determined by a special commission, which will include 49 people, including experts in film and education and defenders of children's and animal rights.
